Strategic management is a management system that was introduced within business organizations so that they can be provided with the capability of responding to changes in the business environment. It helps an organization to formulate a comprehensive strategy which can help them to accomplish its objectives. Strategic planning is the process of selecting an organization’s goals, determining the policies and strategic programmes / projects necessary to achieve specific objectives en-route to the goals and establishing the methods necessary to assure that the policies and strategic programs are implemented. Today’s business environment is dynamic and full of surprises hence this study, strategic planning behaviours of manufacturing organizations. The major problem of how manufacturing organizations respond to changes in their business environment. One of the objectives is to identify various types of organizational responsiveness by a focal organization. Through critical analysis it reveals that strategic responses to changes in business environment improves organizational performance and that if the strategic aggressiveness of a business response to turbulent issue is inadequate, organizations will experience low performance. It is against this background that certain recommendations are made and one of the recommendations is that strategic planning is a major factor for the growth of organizations; all key departments should be more committed in its workability.
