The West Africa Institute (WAI) based in Praia, Cape Verde and the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) at the University of Bonn, Germany, have been in partnership since 2008.
The main objective of this cooperation is to initiate a hitherto unique bi-regional exchange of academic views on regional integration and also to support the institutional development of WAI. The cooperation project aims to recommend practical solutions to stakeholders and decision-makers on both sides, and to raise the awareness for the added-value for the critical factors of regional approaches. This four-year project (2013 – 2016) is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
In the framework of the project component “Institutional Capacity-Development for Regional Integration”, tuition fee scholarships will be granted to overall 21 qualified West African students to participate in a one-year postgraduate Master program in European Studies with a special focus on European Governance and Regulation at ZEI, University of Bonn, Germany. The courses will be taught in English. Comparative aspects of regional integration in different world regions form part of the curriculum.
The present call for applications is to select seven highly qualified candidates to become Master fellows in the class of 2014. The program consists of an intensive study period of nine months in Bonn from October 2014 until June 2015.
