ENABLING FACTORS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF READING CULTURE

The objective of this paper was to examine the enabling factors for the development of reading culture. It pointed out the fact that the role of home environment, school environment and peer group cannot be over emphasized in the development of reading culture in children. The study also emphasized the need for parents to introduce books to their children at the early stage of their development, provision of comfortable environment for reading in school and the organization of discussion groups by peers.
