Research, an organized investigation, a search for knowledge with an open mind to establish facts, has different methods. Community Theatre could be seen as a potent transformation medium. In Nigeria, development messages or awareness creation through mass media may not be shared widely among communities. Poverty and illiteracy have made mass media inaccessible to rural audience therefore making transformation a difficult task. Community Theatre is a complementary, alternative and a reliable transformation media that involves the local community from conception to the execution of the project. Community Theatre provides a forum for local people to take initiative towards the solution of their problems using their human, material and cultural resources. This study is therefore an examination of how Community Theatre, as an interactive and educative theatre can be used in transforming rural audience or communities while incorporating Participatory Action Research (PAR), which enables communities to be part of their problem identification. It focuses on participatory action research, as a method of enhancing community Theatre project, with a view to locating its visibility in addressing human development. This study will explore the relationship between Community Theatre and PAR and how PAR can contribute to the success of Community Theatre because it focuses on change. This research demonstrates that Community Theatre and PAR can be used as an alternative communication process for transformation of rural communities. The primary research method is qualitative-interpretive method, using selected Theatre workshops carried out by students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. While the secondary source of data will be obtained through electronic gadgets, video clips, interview method and internets.
