This paper discusses issues, problems and prospects of special education, and its implications to child development in Anambra State. In examining the issues of children with special needs, it highlighted the problems and the prospects of special education to supporting them, as well as x-rayed the implications for child development.Among the recommendations by the authors include,.the provision of adequate and trained teachers in special education,provision of age appropriate learning materials, and teaching aids for children with disabilities to ensure proper actualization and harnessing of their potentials. The authors equally noted that proper supervision and monitoring are necessary for successful implementation of policies, and programmes needed for enhancing special education progammes in Anambra State.
