This study investigated website use and evaluation by Academic librarians in Anambra and Delta State. The purpose of this study is to find out the types of website used by academic librarians, identify the purposes for which they use website, ascertain whether academic librarians apply website evaluation criteria in evaluating website and to find out the challenges academic librarians face in their use of website. It employed a descriptive survey design to execute the study. A total of 106 librarians drawn from 12 academic libraries constituted the population of this study. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. The instrument was validated by two senior lecturers and test retest method was adopted to test the reliability of the instrument. Pearson’s product – moment was used to test reliability of the instrument and this yielded a coefficient of 0.62. A total of 106 questionnaires were distributed and 81 of them representing 76% were returned and used for the study. Data obtained were analysed using mean for the research questions. The findings of the study revealed that educational types of website with a mean of 3.70 are mostly used by the respondents. The respondents use website mainly for educational and research purposes with a mean of 3.79 and 3.78 respectively. The respondents apply website evaluation criteria and authority with the mean of 3.31 is the major criterion applied. Power outages with a mean of 3.62 pose the greatest challenge to the respondents in their use of website. From the findings, the researcher made some recommendations that librarians should make use of other types of website apart from educational, information, library and news websites. Librarians should improve on their use of website so as to boost their website search skills. Librarians should always apply website evaluation criteria and also develop their own personal criteria for website evaluation. The issue of power outages should be properly addressed by our government.
