AUTHOR: EJESIEME IFEYINWA

FROM: THE DIGNITY OF A FRENCH TEACHER: CELEBRATING PROF. JULIE AGBASIERE

The 21st century Nigerian Society is confronted with several problems. Enquiry into the problems isolates bad leadership as the breeding ground of these problems. This study discovers that an effective leadership which consists of an inspired, vision-driven, altruistic and knowledge-oriented leadership is possible in Nigeria with language and literacy. The allconceiving nature of language and its expressive power have positive promises to any wellmeaning people. Literacy which deals not only with acquiring knowledge but also its application is the bottom line of positive transformation in any milieu in need of progress. It is also the panacea for wars, conflict, poverty and all aspects of under-development.
