Cattle Trade in Igboland: A Study of Umuahia, Okigwe and LOKPA-NTA Cattle Trade Centers, 1938-2012

This study examines the history of cattle trade in Igboland. The researcher is motivated to undertake this study because since he was posted to Imo State as a youth corper, he has interacted with many traders from the Northern part of the country and on various occasions asked them about their past experiences in Igboland. Many of them said they were born in Igboland while their parents were born in such Northern Nigerian towns as Kano, Zaria, Katsina, Sokoto, Borno, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi.
