POWER FLOW ANALYSIS OF NORTHERN NIGERIAN 330KV TRANSMISSION SYSTEM INCORPORATING FACTS CONTROLLER

The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is a solid-state device, which can be used to control the active and reactive power. This project shows that the UPFC is able to control both the transmitted real and reactive power of a transmission line. This work considers the Nigerian transmission system as a case study for investigating the performance of UPFC in achieving stability. In this work a new real power controller has been developed and it performance was evaluated. The validity of the proposed work is tested on northern part of Nigerian 330KV power system using MATLAB.
