IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON PROFITABILITY OF SELECTED COMMERCIAL BANKS IN NIGERIA

This study examined the impact of the Information Technology on Commercial Banks in Nigeria from 2006-2010. Some banks were selected namely: First Bank of Nigeria Plc, United Bank of Africa (UBA) and Fidelity Bank. The data (figures) used were collected from the annual report of the selected banks for the period covered Regression was run using the collected amount. The result from the regression was used for the analysis, using “T” Test, R Square, adjusted R Square Durbin Wastson and Aprori expectation. The findings from the study confirmed that a unit increase in number of ATM causes an increase in gross earning of the banks. It was recommended that commercial banks in Nigeria should embrace Information Technology for better profitability of their banks.
