In spite of the enormous human and material resources that abound in Nigeria, sustainable development (SD) has continued to elude the country. Today Nigeria is ranked among the underdeveloped countries in the world where the generality of its people live below poverty line. Given the many years of the incursion of the Nigerian military into the governance of the country, good governance one of the essential ingredients for the attainment of SD has not been possible in the land.
