The present study described the music education programmes of the Catholic Seminaries in the Archdiocese of Onitsha. The specific issues of the research included the history of the seminaries, the component parts of music as a classroom subject, problems of music education in the institutions, curricula and extra-curricular functions of music therein. The subjects of the study comprised of all the students one thousand and eighty nine (1089) and seventy six (76) teachers including Rectors of all the Seminaries (three in all) that existed in Onitsha Catholic Archdiocese as at the time of the present study. Data were gathered through three procedures: interviews and follow-up interviews, observation and questionnaire. It was found among other things that the seminarians encountered music as a curricular as well as an extra-curricular element of change in behavior pattern. Above all, music was an instrument through which the seminarians achieved character moulding for their expected profession. Nine problems were identified to affect music teaching-learning in the institutions. Thus, good conclusions were reached and recommendations were proffered for improvement.
